My friend Tyler is trying to lose weight and he asked my other friend Orlando to train him. Tyler was embarrassed to go to the gym though so Orlando is taking care of that by dressing up as characters when they go to the gym so that the focus isn’t on Tyler but on himself. So far Tyler has been trained by a Jedi and steampunk Batman. This is one of the nicest things I have ever seen done for someone else. 

Orlando’s kindness blows me away.

30 Day Cleanse - Day 10: Low caffeine tolerance!??

I’m proud to say I’ve officially made it to day 10! However, that being said I’m learning all kinds of things about my body that I didn’t understand before. I’m typing this post at 2 in the morning because I can’t sleep from the tiny trace of caffeine I had in the green tea I made today. I accidentally grabbed the tea with caffeine instead of my decalf green tea that I’ve been drinking for my cleanse, and OH MY GOSH do I notice a difference!
Caffeine Effects- Tripled!
I didn’t realize how immune to caffeine my body was before the cleanse. I had been drinking so much coffee and caffeinated beverages that something as simple as green tea wouldn’t normally have an effect on me at all. However now, it’s 2:30 in the morning and I’m wide awake!! 
I have to be up in a few hours to take a midterm in my social media class, so accidentally drinking caffeinated green tea was not smart.
Detox is working!
On the bright side though (I can always find some type of bright side) at least I know the cleanse/body detox is working!  In just 10 days my body has obviously rid itself of all caffeine, and I’m very easily effected by even the slightest amount in green tea! Who knew??
This definitely makes me very happy, because not only do I know the cleanse is working now; I also can guarantee if my body has rid itself of caffeine, it must have rid itself of other toxins and waste as well.
Off to make another attempt at sleeping. Hope all my lovely followers are getting a good night’s sleep tonight and don’t read this till the morning haha :)

30 Day Juice Cleanse- Day 6!

**This post was written 3 days ago, sorry for the late update! It’s been a hectic & fun few days. We’re now on Day 9, and still going strong! Post coming soon guys :)

This morning Bryan weighed himself to see if there was any decrease, and we were both shocked because he lost 8 lbs in 6 days! It was a great motivation for him to continue because he has a pretty big weight loss goal. I was really proud of him, it definitely motivated me too.
I had to work a Loreal promotion most of the day, which was great because I was really busy and didn’t have time to think about my hunger level.


Juice Consumption
So after 6 days of juicing, I’ve got a pretty good idea of how much juice I drink to feel satisfied. On average, I’m drinking 4-5 glasses of juice, and a WHOLE LOT of water.

Skin Improvement
One of my favorite things about this juice cleanse is the incredible improvement I’ve seen in my skin!  I hardly have broken out at all in the last week, and my face feels so soft. I guess all the caffeine, sugar, salt and chemicals I’d been consuming all these years really did have an effect on my skin. If I had known eating noting but fruits and veggies would clear my skin up, I would have done it a LONG time ago! I miss pasta don’t get me wrong, but not having to cake-on foundation is SO worth it.

Today’s Juice

In celebration of going to Disneyland tomorrow, I decided to use my Disney cups to drink our juice out of! I wanted a bit more of a “Smoothie Juice” today, so after I juiced all my fruits and veggies- I put the juice in the blender and added a bit of ice. It was a lovely refreshing change up from the normal juice consistency. 

Recipe:

  • 6 celery
  • 4 apples
  • 2 pineapple slices
  • 2 iceberg lettuce leaves
  • 2 pears
  • 2 basil leaves

Tomorrow we’re going to Disneyland, so I’m scared it will be a really big challenge to juice the whole day, since we’ll be surrounded by nothing but churros, fudge, and lollipops. We’ll be bringing juice with us and hoping it keeps us away from all the junk!!

30 Day Juice Cleanse- DAY 5!!!

Woah Woah WOAH I’ve made it officially 5 days on just juice!

Although last night was the roughest night yet (with cravings and head aches and all), today has been GREAT! I woke up not feeling tiered, and actually felt refreshed. 

A double dose of temptation

My friend Alexandra invited me to lunch, but since I couldn’t eat actual food, I agreed to meet her outside of BJs on the patio and have a green tea while she had a few drinks. She was so sweet and understanding, and even ate her meal before I got there so I wouldn’t have to be around food.

We spent a couple hours gossiping and catching up on our lives on the beautiful patio, and i was so happy to be out of the house feeling cute (out of yoga pants) and testing out my self control at a restaurant! 

Face first dive into a pizza?

At one point though, the guys at the table next to us ordered a whole pizza and I actually had to move tables just so I wouldn’t smell it.

If I had sat there for even a minute longer, I guarantee I would have dove face first into their pizza, and RAN out of the patio shoving slices down my mouth. Luckily there was a table available on the other side of the patio, so we moved before I had the chance to dive in face first.

Now it’s 10:25pm, and I’m proud to say I’m pizza-free and can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and have it be day 6. I’m one proud blonde!

No juicing picture to post today, I actually made 2 juices (and they were both delicious) but I didn’t get the chance to make them into a beautiful collage as usual. 

Don’t worry, I’ll post double juicing pictures/recipes tomorrow ;)

Yeah girl!

I’m kind of confused what you’re asking, but yes it takes 21 days to make a habit stick. If you push through drinking the right amount of water for your body weight/height for 21 days, it will be MUCH easier to continue after that! 

On a personal note, I used to REALLY not like drinking water. I would drink soda, juice, and everything BUT water. Then, I realized how important water is for our body and I really pushed myself to start drinking more. 

How to boost your water intake

Start slow, start with 3-4 glasses a day. Drink one glass before every meal, a glass right before you wake up and a glass right before bed. You’ll be up to your goal in no time. After a while, you’re going to be so used to drinking it, that you’ll feel really dehydrated when you don’t.

I’d print this chart out and put it on your fridge!

Water tips

A trick I tried and really LOVED, was adding fruit to my water. Just a few slices of lemons, or even some strawberries and cucumbers will make it taste SO refreshing and delicious.

Preparing for the cleanse

To prepare for my 30 day juice cleanse, I raided my kitchen and took EVERYTHING out that would be tempting to cheat with for the next 30 days. I have it all in a box right now and my boyfriend and I are going to go give it to the homeless tomorrow night :)

Buying for the 30 Day Juice Cleanse

Honestly, there isn’t really much to buy other than fruits and veggies. The only thing we stocked up on was water bottles. Now we go to the store once a week and load up the shopping cart with what ever fruits and veggies we feel like using for the next week. Usually $100 worth of JUST fruit an vegetables is enough for 2 people for an entire week, so it’s not as expensive as people say it is.

30 Day Juice Cleanse: Day 1!

I’m so excited because today is the very first day of my 30 day juice cleanse that I’m doing with my boyfriend! We’ve taken a pledge to drink nothing but fruits and vegetables (juiced of course) for 30 days together.
Not going to lie, I’m a little bit nervous about being able to stay away from anything food related for 30 days, but I’ve wanted to do this for so long that I’m going to make myself push through it.


Preparation
In preparation for the juice cleanse, I spent all day yesterday finding other people who have blogged their 30 day juice cleansing journey and wrote down a list of ideas and things to help me through my journey. I’ll post those a bit later :)

Avoiding temptation- Getting Rid Of The Junk

To avoid temptation in the house, my boyfriend and I took a good hour and took out everything in the kitchen that wasn’t part of our diet. This weekend we’re going to go down to downtown and give it away to the lovely homeless people in San Diego.

This morning’s juice:
(Made by my wonderful boyfriend Bryan while I was at college.)

  • 4 carrots
  • 6 oranges
  • 2 romaine tomatoes
  • 3 kiwis
  • 1 granny Smith green apple
  • 1 whole head of kale

Believe it or not, all that fruit only made less than 1/2 gallon of juice. As predicted this is going to be expensive, especially since there’s two of us!

Since we’ve been mentally preparing for this for about a month now, we’re both really dedicated to finishing together.


Juicing questions I have so far:

  1. How much juice will I drink per day/week/month.
  2. How much money will I spend per person on fruit and vegetables per week
  3. How many lbs of fruit and vegetables will we have eaten after our 30 days is over
  4. Will I notice a difference in my energy level
  5. Will I notice a difference in my mood
  6. Will I notice a difference in hair length/fullness and skin health after eating nothing but nutrients for 30 days

Day 1 done, 29 more to go.
