I’M BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS!
After being addicted to caffeine for so long, and then giving it up cold turkey all at once- I decided to have a Caramel Macchiato today at Starbucks (as I type this post).
OH MY GOSH I can feel my blood sugar rising, I’m typing at 84987249874985 words a minute, and I feel like I have so much energy I could do a few laps of Kart Wheels around San Diego!
Not going to lie though, on top of that I feel really shaky and can kind of feel a head ache coming on.
Tomorrow, I’m anxious to see if I wake up craving caffeine since I had coffee today, or if I’ll wake up and not crave it at all. If I don’t crave it tomorrow, that means I’ll officially be over my caffeine addiction, which will be a BIG deal for me.
For now, off to do some Kart Wheels and Super-Speed-Blogging hahaha
Has anyone else struggled with caffeine?
These baby gourmet grilled cheese panini’s will take your breath away!
Using your pink panini maker (or which ever color panini maker you own, even though pink is the best color of course) eliminates the time it would normally take to bake them in the oven.
Also, using a panini maker eliminates the need to fry them in a pan. This makes these cute little babies much healthier too. This took a total of 10 minutes, and was worth every second!
- Sautéed Portabella Mushrooms
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Mini-Chibatta Slices
- Caramelized Onions
- Oregeno Spices
- Avocado Feta Spread
- Caramelize your onions Saute the portabella mushrooms in all natural honey (which is a sweet delicous substitute for oil)
- Spread the bottom half of the chibatta bread with pesto, and the top half with avocado feta spread. You can use what ever spread or dip you like, i just happened to find the Avocado-pesto spread at the farmers market and fell in love with it.
- Layer your cheese, sauted portabella mushrooms and caramalized onlions on the chibatta slices
- Toss them in your panini maker, and vuala- you have delicious baby gourmet grilled cheese paninis that will impress all your guests!
- I paired my mini panini’s with my 2 minute side italian salad, and a home-made fruit smoothie.
Hi!! Awe thanks for taking the time to come visit me, nice to meet you :)
Breakfast for me is BY FAR the most important meal of the day. I start every morning WITHOUT fail with a delicious fruit smoothie (click here for my fruit smoothie page)
Fruit and veggies in a delicious smoothie is a FABULOUS way to kick start your energy level for the day.
Other high energy breakfast foods:
Why:Rich in protein, eggs help prevent food cravings.
Why:The complex carbohydrates in oatmeal provide vitamins and minerals that give us energy. (Simple carbohydrates, like those in white bread, carry the risk of being converted to fat and stored.) Go for old-fashioned or steel-cut oats. They’re high in protein and soluble fiber, which lowers cholesterol and makes you feel fuller longer.
Why: Butter made from nuts like almonds, cashews, and peanuts are filled with vitamin E, protein, magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Concerned about fat? Nut butter contains monounsaturated fats—also found in olive oil—which are the good fats that lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol.
WHOLE GRAIN BREAD
Why: ”Muffins, bagels, and low fiber cereals all give a temporary energy boost and then you’ll crash,” says New York Food Trainers’ dietician Lauren Slayton. Instead, choose whole grains to help stabilize blood sugar levels and fill you up until your next meal.
Why: Spinach, kale, chard, and other leafy greens are nutrition powerhouses. Try to work in other veggies, too—the recommended daily serving is 2 to 3 cups. You’ll fill your body with fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
Why: In general, fruits are filled with fiber (pears, apples, berries, and kiwis), vitamin C (papaya, oranges), disease-fighting antioxidants (strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries), and cell- and muscle-building potassium (bananas).
Why: A handful of nuts and seeds such as flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds add great flavor and texture, but they also contribute protein, vitamin E, and heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and omega-3’s.
Why: A good no-cook breakfast option, yogurt is also an excellent source of calcium and protein.
If you balance every day with a great hearty meal in the morning, I guarantee you that it’ll be FULL of energy.
Remember to snack on healthy foods regularly too. That keeps your blood sugar up, and prevents you from getting sleepy!
Lifting weights is NOT going to make you huge ladies. This is a common misconception that I get asked about quite often. If you’re on a bad diet, and you just can’t seem to keep your hands off Mr. Ben and Mr. Jerry (if you know what I mean *ehem ICECREAM ehem**.
If you balance out a healthy diet (with protein/fruits/veggies) with a solid workout plan, you’ll EARN your way to the body of your dreams! Lifting weights is NOT going to make you big, but lifting weights without training might. If you’re really worries about this, please message me and we’ll go over your exercise routine together. A good cardio mix with strengthening exercises and weights will actually lean you out.
Whats the worst that can happen? You might just end up with a fabulously it body. Oops :)
(From the movie Fat Sick and Nearly Dead)
"The closer a food is to it’s NATURAL STATE, the healthier it is."
You can’t get any more natural then putting a piece of fresh fruit in a blender and drinking it.
Here is Carolyn’s fabulous first recipe of the week:
(Click the link above to her blog for the recipe)
Her bread looks DELICIOUS and I’m so proud of her for getting her first recipe of the week done!
Everyone else who is participating in the 2 recipes a week challenge, don’t forget to message me when you’ve made either of your 2 recipes for the week. That way I can share it on my blog for everyone else to enjoy!
That’s awesome, thanks for the advice! I’ve only been to Mexico once (which is crazy because San Diego is so close to the border) but I had no idea they had Dragon Fruits there. I was finally able to find a Dragon Fruit at the local grocery store (I just made a post about it) and I was SO excited. I had a little photo shoot with myself and the Dragon Fruit in the produce section haha.
I didn’t know they came in different colors though, that’s so cool. I learn all kinds of new things from my fabulous followers :)
You’re so sweet for taking the time out of your day to share that with me!
There is a definite line between slowly pushing your body out of your comfort zone, vs pushing yourself so hard you get hurt.
LEARN YOUR LIMIT.
Thanks girly!! I’m on day 4 today of Body Revolution, and it’s going REALLY well so far. I like it just as much as the 30 Day Shred, if not a bit more. I like that there is more variety in the videos for every week. The shred was the same video every 10 days, but Body Revolution is a different video for every day of the week. I think I’ll see better results faster, since each video focuses on separate parts of the body.
I’ll definitely keep you posted girl, thanks for asking! I post about it almost every day after each video :)
Hope the gym is going well for you too!
The Summer Challenge begins this upcoming Monday! Don’t forget to meggage me your name so i can put you on the official
Get your name (and link to your blog) added to Brittany’s Summer Challenge: 2 new recipes a week!list on my blog. *This is going to be a great way to get to know other bloggers, share your favorite summer recipes, and maybe even get some fabulous new followers of your own!*
Since I’m SO excited to finally be out of school for summer, I decided that this is the PERFECT time to start working on improving my minimal cooking skills. Join me!
It’s time for us to move on from the dark side of processed Mac and Cheese, and over to the brighter and better side of real unprocessed meals. Bye-bye burnt toast, HELLO farmers markets and fresh cooked veggies! Unfortunately, since Martha Stewart isn’t our next-door neighbor, we all have to teach ourselves how to make something in the kitchen besides a mess and several small fires. Challenge yourself with me; kiss the days of frozen dinners goodbye, and become new BFFS with your oven.
Like all new goals, you need to create a plan on how you’re going to get yourself to achieve it. Since there are about two and a half months left of summer, I decided to create a challenge that will have my followers and I attempting two new foods EVERY WEEK. By the end of summer, we’ll all have made more than 20 new recipes that we didn’t know how to make before!
As you can see, I’ve decorated my own cute little recipe book. This little notebook cost me $.50, and here I’ll be adding all my favorite recipes from this summer. When I start school up again for the fall, I’ll have all my own fabulous favorite collection of recipes in one place to choose from. Make one; add your own stickers, colors, glitter, and personality to it. You’ll get really excited to write in this twice a week, trust me.
My First Recipe inside my Recipe book!
**As you can see, I also put my grocery list on the inside cover of the recipe book IN PENCIL. That way, I can add and remove items that I need (and don’t need) for that week’s 2 recipes.
All my wonderful followers, I definitely recommend that you try my Brittany’s Summer Challenge:2 new recipes a week! with me. No matter where you are with your cooking skills, this will give you a great chance to add some healthy items to your own cook book :) At the end of summer you can even invite some friends over and have an end of summer party to give them a taste of what you’ve made.
Message me HERE with your name and blog link, and I’ll add you to my list of people on my newest blog page called “Brittany’s Summer Challenge: 2 new recipes a week!”. This is going to be a great way to get to know other bloggers, share your favorite summer recipes, and maybe even get some fabulous new followers of your own!
- Message me your name and a link to your blog so I can add you to the list of people participating in the challenge.
- At the beginning of EVERY week, pick TWO recipes that you would like to make that week. This isn’t too many guys, it can be snacks, desserts, drinks, breakfast, lunch or dinner.
- After you’ve made your recipe, TAKE PICTURES!!! This is so important. They don’t have to be fancy or high resolution, it is just give people an idea of what you’ve made.
- Post your recipe to your blog, and TAG it with the tag “2newrecipes”. By doing this, other people participating in the challenge can see what you’ve made, and can try it out too!
- MESSAGE ME WITH THE LINK TO EVERY NEW RECIPE POST YOU MAKE!!! I’ll be posting all of your recipes to a page on my blog too, another easy way to get to know your friendly neighbor bloggers :)
Super easy, and a really great way to keep yourself motivated to stay healthy this summer. After all, 80 percent of your body is made in the kitchen, so GET IN THERE AND MAKE IT!
After 30 minutes of an INTENSE workout, I feel GREAT!
As you can see from my calendar, today was cardio day (day 3) so I definitely got my heart rate up and my little butt kicked.
I was sweating so much, I practically turned into a human water fountain. That being said, it was worth every drop because I’m in a euphoric daze of endorphins. There is no better feeling then the one after an intense workout!
Days 1,2, and 3 have been SUCH an eye opener. I didn’t realize just how out of shape I was until I couldn’t even get through 10 push ups! I can’t wait to watch my body transform over the next 90 days.
I’m earning every ounce of muscle, and proud of it!
More pix and updates to come soon :)
