Bryan and I had SO much fun at Dapper Day Disneyland! This was one of my very favorite photos from all the hundreds we took.
I’m so in love, so so so in love. And it’s the kind of love that we’ve REALLY worked hard to achieve. It hasn’t been all butterflies and magic, but those rough times we made it through are what makes it that much more special.
1 Deployment, 2 lost jobs, 3 family melt downs, and a whole lot of prayers that got us through it all.
At the end of the day, Bryan you will forever be the Dapper Prince Charming that I never knew I needed.
Going to Dapper Day at Disneyland has been on my bucket list for a very long time!
If you’ve ever had one of those days that was just so ridiculously great; that you’re scared you’ll wake up in the morning and it will all have been a dream… that perfectly describes our Dapper Day experience.
It was like stepping into another era at Disneyland!
Bryan and I had so much fun, and since we were on Day 7 of our 30 day juice cleanse- we juiced the WHOLE time we were there. Didn’t even cheat with a single churro or lollipop! If that’s not self control, I don’t know what is haha.
Anyway, we had a BLAST and I can’t wait to go back next year!
Bryan and I just got home from Disneyland on Dapper Day and in case you haven’t seen the photos, WE HAD A BLAST!!!
Everyone in the whole park was dressed in their Dapper vintage clothing, and Bryan and I were in full costume as well :)
Juicing at DisneyLand
Let’s be honest, juicing at Disneyland was one of the HARDEST things I’ve ever done! We were surrounded by the smells of fresh churros (which everyone knows is one of the best parts of Disneyland) not to mention candy and junk food galore. We planed ahead and made fresh juice for the trip, however when you have the choice of drinking fruit/veggie juice.. or a piece of fudge, that is a VERY hard decision.
Luckily there was a Jamba Juice in Downtown Disney so we had our “lunch” there and it held us over for most of the day.
Since today officially marks our “one week mark” of juicing for a whole week, and we were at Disneyland having a blast- we decide to treat ourselves and have a “mini-cheat” break. We didn’t get chocolate, we didn’t give into churros, but we did treat ourselves to small side salads! I guess you could consider it a cheat since it wasn’t juice, but we only ha fresh veggies on it, and got organic balsamic/olive oil dressing on it. Over all, although it was a cheat, we don’t regret it and it felt so good to chew our food again! Tomorrow we’ll be back to full juicing :)
So excited to have made it this far!! Can’t wait to see what the next 23 days has in store for us!
These keys all must belong to my secret dream tree house in the enchanted forest somewhere.
Smoothies in Mason jars always look more delicious! When I get married one day, there will be mason jars and white lights EVERYWHERE!
I was SO head-over-heels excited to find a shelf of all-natural honey flavors on the shelf above the delicious salad dressings!
Not to mention, the song "American Honey" played on our Road Trip Playlist on the way home from our BFF Road Trip. Gosh I love country music so much <3
Any who, All-natural honey is SO much better for you because there’s nothing added to it like the honey you’ll find at the grocery stores. No added sugars, no artificial preservatives, and no added coloring. In other words, all the flavors you taste, and the colors you see in the bottle come from the actual fruit.
All-natural Honey> Store bought honey.
If you’re ever visiting a small town (as I am today with my best friend Allie and my puppy Locket) be sure to stock up on all natural foods. Small towns commonly make their own foods, and they’re much better for your body.
A good rule to remember:
Read the ingredients- if there are more then 5 ingredients, don’t buy it.
After my many minutes of sifting through all the flavors of natural honeys, jams and dressings from my last post; Allie, Locket and I malingered into the hidden bottom half of the store. It felt like we stumbled into Wonderland! White warm lights, antique tea cups, vintage mirrors and red plant-bicycles galore!
If that was a real red bike, I totally would have bought it and rode around the little town of julian with Locket in my basket all day.
If you’re ever in Cali, I definitely recommend a little adventure with your best friend into the hills of Julian California :)
Did you know, back in the day in New York; an ORANGE was a traditional Christmas gift?
Groceries haven’t always been stocked with delicious fruits and veggies as they are now. Oranges were grown in Florida, so it was a really big deal to get one if you lived out of state.
I think we forget how blessed we are to have constant access to nutritious natural foods. That being said, mom if you’re reading this- you better not put an orange in my stocking this Christmas!
However, you can bet I’ll be thanking God for every blessed bite into a juicy piece of fruit.
I’m officially 5 months caffeine free!!
This picture made me smile, because I remember having SO many cups of coffee during midterms in college last semester- I would get awfully shaky.
Proud to say caffeine is officially part of my PAST and NOT a part of my present or future!
Bye-bye shakiness, sleepless nights and bad skin.
That chapter of my life has happily closed. I feel so much healthier now!
"You are the only person who is in charge of how you feel about yourself. Nobody else can possibly do that. You get to decide if you believe you are beautiful or not, and nobody can take it away from you. If someone suggests that you aren’t beautiful, you can consider how sad it is that they have such a limited view of beauty. You can consider how unfortunate it is that they have such an exaggerated sense of self-importance that they think you should care about what they think. You can also choose to realize that it has nothing at all to do with your beauty and everything to do with their limitations. "
The guy I have been waiting for, for almost a year who’s deployed in the Marines- told me yesterday that he might be coming home from Afghanistan early.
I’d love nothing more than forehead kisses for the rest of eternity if it meant he could be back in 2 weeks.
He told me not to get my hopes up… but
secretly my hopes are already WAY up in the sky (sitting right next to Jesus) hoping he’ll somehow be home in 2 weeks.
But if not… 10 months down, only 2 left to go!

Today I went to Panera with one of my sorority sisters and I decided to invent my own salad creation!
It turned out sooooooo delicious, the lady behind me asked what I did and ordered the same thing!
Delicious AND healthy- perfection.
The World of TEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After 23 years of hating tea
(thinking it all tastes like grass) I’ve finally began loving it!
For some reason my body has decided it no longer wants anything to do with dairy (Rude! There goes my ridiculous love for mass quantities for Starbucks coffee, White Mochas and Ben and Jerry’s) …. (which is probably for the better haha!)
So I have been forced to explore the world of Tea!
After unwillingly trying some of my friend Christine’s 'Soy Early Gray Tea Latte' (which she get’s EVERY TIME she goes, rain or shine) after the first sip I was surprisingly in LOVE!!
I used to be a tea hater- now I’m a tea LOVER and get it ALL the time at Starbucks!
Tea is healthier, better for your body, actually has nutritional benefits, and the best part IT’S CHEAPER TOO!!!!!!!
Every girl is always looking to save a few cents here and there… more to spend on shoes right?
Here are some other fabulous things about tea!
- tea soothes your system
when infused, tea has very strong hydration benefits. whereas coffee dehydrates us, tea provokes the opposite effect (sometimes it can even help a morning hangover.) that said, the drink helps improve digestion, as well as vision. some research has shown that drinking tea can even lower the risks of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
- it’s good for your mind
need a little boost? forget coffee and energy drinks: a simple cup of tea can lift your spirits. this effect works in two ways: it fights fatigue, as well as awakens your body. and since it doesn’t increase your heart rate, tea (even when caffeinated) lets you de-stress and helps to get rid of agitation.
- magical nutrients
one of the main benefits that tea offers your body is its abundance of antioxidants. tea contains polyphenols and flavonoids, which fight against free radicals and protect our cells from daily aggressions. the antioxidants contained in tea are very strong; up to four times the amount found in vitamin c (which is also contained in tea). vitamins b and e, as well as beta-carotene, can also be found in tea.
did you know?
after water, tea (which comes in more than 3,000 varieties) is the second most-consumed beverage in the world. in regards to benefits, the less tea has been transformed, the richer it is. in order of excellence, they are as follows: white tea (the big winner by far), green tea, black tea, and then smoked and fermented varieties.
in regards to preparation, it is in the first three to five minutes of infusion that 85% of the tea’s antioxidants are released. it is also during this time that the tea releases its caffeine. so if you aren’t looking for that caffeinated boost, it is possible to decaffeinate your tea by simply throwing out the first batch of infused water after three minutes, and infuse the tea for a second time with more boiling water.
Grab some tea tomorrow instead of coffee in the morning!
Your body will thank you for it :)
